AttleboroGOP Candidates Win

ATTLEBORO – Six Republicans won seats in the Nov. 4 city election Tuesday, a strong showing by members of AttleboroGOP.

Incumbent Jay DiLisio was the top vote getter in the hotly contested race for five at-large City Council seats. Jonathan Tavares also won re-election as did Ward 4 Councilor Michael Angelo.

On the School Committee, James Poore narrowly beat an incumbent to become the new Ward 1 representative. He is joined on the School Committee by veteran James Stors.

Laura Gignac was re-elected city Treasurer in an uncontested race.

All the candidates were recognized by MassGOP Chair Amy Carnevale in an email sent statewide. “From city halls to school committees, Massachusetts Republicans continue to grow the party from the ground up. These victories didn’t happen by chance,” Ms. Carnevale wrote. “The gains made by Republican candidates in Massachusetts happened because of quality candidates, dedicated volunteers, grassroots organizers, and supporters. The Massachusetts Republican Party will continue building on this momentum, working to protect these hard-fought gains, advance our shared values, and win Republican seats in every corner of the Commonwealth.”
