The brutal murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Hope Riley allegedly by an illegal immigrant was a completely avoidable tragedy. The suspected murderer, a Venezuelan, walked across our southern border and was released into the US population. He was arrested in New York City for a violent crime, then released again. Eventually he made his way to Georgia. Now young Ms. Laken is dead. She was 22.
This sad story is just the latest of violent crimes committed by people who should not be in our communities. DO NOT FORGET that this open-border situation is completely intentional. Our elected leaders are inviting immigrants into our country and preventing law enforcement from detaining or deporting them. The illegals are not vetted. We have no idea who they are. Some are families looking for work and better lives. Others, unfortunately, are criminals and terrorists, here to do harm to US citizens.
Conservative voters are nearly unanimous in their opposition to the current open-border policy that allows illegal immigrants, when apprehended, to be released into the US city of their choice under the promise they will return for an immigration hearing that could be years in the future.
How is it possible that progressive liberals support this dangerous and absurd program? How is it even legal to intentionally fail to support existing immigration laws, enabling more than 10 million non-citizens to live here and be supported by tax dollars?
And where are all the independent voters who can usually take a commonsense approach to such impropriety? We need their support to affect change.
Ms. Riley’s family issued the following statement: “Laken was an amazing daughter, sister, friend, and overall person in general. Her love for the Lord was exemplified in every aspect of her life. She will be missed every day, but we promise to honor her life moving forward in a very big way.”
Our hearts break for Laken Riley’s friends and family. Honor her life by making your voices heard and stopping this madness. A government that allows this must be replaced.
